Nearly every family in America has been hit with higher health care costs. Instead of taking action to solve this problem, Congress is currently considering $60 billion in cuts that will make the problem even worse by putting our families and our clients at risk.
In states across the country, these proposed cuts will mean:
 Reduced quality and availability of home care for everyone. Many home care workers will be forced to leave the industry making it more difficult for families to secure in-home care. Clients will receive fewer visits per week resulting in more hours waiting for help with daily activities like bathing, eating and toileting.
Many people with disabilities and seniors who rely on an in-home caregiver will no longer be eligible for home care and they will be forced to use institutional care.
An increased burden on family caregivers. With fewer home care services available, many families who have relied on an in-home caregiver will have to provide the care themselves.
Lower wages for many home care workers because states will have fewer resources to fund in-home care. Any wage cuts will make it even harder for home care workers to afford health care for our families.
As the population ages, the need for long term care services will only increase. That’s why we have to invest in quality long term care now.
